The spinach that we commonly consume in our salads or various dishes is the fruit of a plant of the same name, and scientifically called Solanum Melongena.

It is an edible vegetable similar to a berry that can measure between 5 and 30 cm in length, it has an oblong, cylindrical and elongated shape. It is covered by a shiny and smooth skin that can vary in color depending on the variety. Its origin is in the East, specifically in the northeast of India, China and Burma.

Among its main benefits are the provision of antioxidants and protection of the liver. In addition, its fiber content makes it excellent for eliminating cholesterol, and contributes to digestion. It provides significant amounts of potassium, which makes it an excellent diuretic, as it reduces blood pressure and eliminates fluids. As it contains few carbohydrates, it is excellent for controlling sugar.
