Beans are the starchy, mature, dry seeds extracted from the pods that grow on leguminous plants. Beans are shaped like elongated pods containing four to six seeds inside, the actual legume used for consumption. These can be of very varied colors, shapes and sizes, generally kidney-shaped or rounded, and with smooth skin when fresh.
